Glossary
 
ACH - Automated Clearing House. The means by which a TenderCardTM Merchant pays for their transactions and hosting costs. The funds are debited directly from the Merchant's bank account (DDA).

Acrylic Stand - Clear plastic stand that holds cards. Comes with the starter kit.

Balance Inquiry - (Transaction) The method by which the available funds on a card may be checked.

Breakage - The amount of money left on a card that is never used by the cardholder.

Card envelopes - See card sleeves.

Card sleeves - A protective paper sleeve for a TenderCardTM with spaces for the card purchaser to write information such as: to, from and how much the card is worth.

Card Stock - Blank cards of different base colors.

Closed Loop - for Gift and Loyalty cards is where the POS device dials directly to TenderCard™.

Credit - (Transaction) adding funds to an existing TenderCardTM account.

Custom Card - A card that uses artwork and/or logos that are specific to the Merchant.

Custom Program - A program with special requirements or functions that TenderCardTM must customize or write.

DBA - Doing business as - the name by which a business is known to the public.

DDA - Direct Deposit Account. The Merchant's bank/checking account.


 
DPI - Dots per inch.

Download - A program built by TenderCardTM that meets the Merchant's specifications according to the application.

Escheatment - The process of turning over unclaimed or abandoned funds or property to a state authority.

Force - (Transaction) When a TenderCardTM transaction cannot be processed electronically this function will allow a receipt to be printed reflecting a transaction for the cardholder. As this transaction never reaches the IMATTS™ server, this transaction must be reentered once connectivity has been reestablished.

Generic Cards - See pre-designed cards.

Gift - Stored value program.

IMAPPS (Internet Merchant Automated Payment Processing System) - The program by which Merchants with different DBA's and DDA's can accept cards on the same program. Accounting of issues and redeems are available.

IMATTS™ (Internet Merchant Automated TenderCard™ Transaction Servers) - The host system for TenderCardTM that captures and processes all transaction data.

Integrated - A TenderCardTM program built into the same terminal that is operating a credit card program.

ISO - Independent Sales Organization.

Issue - (Transaction) the first time value is placed onto a card (Card Activation).

 
Loyalty - Points program where points are issued by the Merchant on a per dollar spent basis.

Monochrome - A single color printing process.

Multi-Merchant - A feature of the Talento used when a Merchant has an additional service (i.e. check verification) that is accessed by the seven (7) key, which TenderCard™ also uses. This is used so that a merchant can have all of there services in one terminal. Reporting features may be limited using this method.

MyAccount - A web service that has many reporting features and a virtual terminal.

NDA - Non disclosure agreement.

Open Loop - products utilize the infrastructure and network of a branded card company, such as MasterCard, Discover, Star, and American Express, etc. to service the mall and resort markets. The resort market utilizes both open and closed loop products.

POP (Point Of Purchase) - Marketing term for advertising pieces used within the POS area.

POS (Point Of Sale) - Term used to describe where a transaction takes place.

Pre-Designed Cards - Cards that have been pre-printed with a design onto which the Merchant's name can be printed. These are the cards that come with a starter kit.

Redeem - (Transaction) the same as a sale, taking value off of a card for goods or services sold.

Rewards - Points based program wherein points can be given for every visit.

 
RGB - Printing process which utilizes the mixing of Red, Green and Blue.

Sale - (Transaction) the same as a redeem, taking value off of a card for goods or services sold.

Servers - The computers running IMATTS™ and IMAPPS™ and MyAccountWS™.

Spot Color - A term used to describe a specific color which is neither "RGB" or "YMCKO".

Stand Alone - Where TenderCard™ is the only program that can be used in a terminal. There is NO integration in these terminals.

Starter Kit - Cost effective way to start using TenderCard™. Includes 100 pre-designed cards, 100 card sleeves, card display stand, 2 decals, countertop sign & stand and terminal download.

Tip Liability Release - A restaurant that would like to accept TenderCards™ for tips must sign this release. Merchant assumes liability for the value of the tip if the transaction is declined.

Tracking Report - Sent every day by TenderCard™ detailing all the current statuses on TenderCard™ accounts and applications in process.

Training - Teaching a Merchant how to use the TenderCard™ program. This is the responsibility of the Reseller/Sales Rep.

YMCKO - A printing process which utilizes the mixing of the colors Yellow, Magenta, Cyan and Black. The "O" represents a clear overlay that seals the colors on the card.
